Describe your day-to-day responsibilities in your current role?

I’m the General Manager of Relais & Châteaux, based in head office in Paris. Relais & Châteaux is an association of hotels and restaurants with 570 members operating in 60 countries throughout the globe. My role as General Manager is to look after our members, to make sure that we give them all they need to develop new services and to be in contact with them throughout the year. I travel around the world to meet them and to make sure that they’re happy with what we’re doing as an association and as a brand.

What are some of the main things you learned at Glion which you use in your current role?

Glion was a period of my life where I met a lot of wonderful people, learnt a lot of wonderful things, and it gave me a base on which to build a career. All the skills that you learn at Glion, be it how to serve in the dining room, how to cook in the kitchen, how to do accounts, how to do sales, marketing, or front of house – all of that is somehow bonded together by people and the way you learn to live, respect and interact with people.

What would be your career advice to current students and recent alumni of Glion?

There’s not one secret: I think there are many secrets to being successful. Being dedicated to what you do and loving your job is very important, so find a job that you love and you can really give all that you have to make your career a success. I’d advise them to have a lot of energy, a lot of motivation, and to soak up everything that they can every day that they’re in Glion; also every day that they spend on internship.
