Clotilde Fonteny

Name: Clotilde Fonteny

Program: Master’s in International Hospitality Business

Current position: HR Coordinator

Current company: Richemont

Graduation year: 2019

Tell us about your career journey since you graduated from Glion and how it’s led you to your current position?

This is my first job after graduation from Glion in February 2019. Before Glion, I did a Bachelor in Business Administration in Canada, in the francophone part in Quebec City. At the end of my studies I thought: OK, I did something in administration and I really want to have another specialization – why not hospitality?

While studying at Glion, I was searching for many offers, and when I talked to the people in the Career & Internship department, they told me that they may have something for me in the luxury industry. They contacted my current manager, I had a first Skype interview, and then I went to Geneva to meet her.

Describe your day-to-day responsibilities in your current role?

I decided to choose the human resources area because, for me, the human capital – people – are the main asset of the company. Without people you can’t do what you have to do, especially in hospitality.

What I like about my job is that I am in touch with many people, I’m performing many tasks and it’s always different projects, so I’m learning a lot. I’m developing new skills and I’m able to support people.

The human resources department is something challenging. You are learning every day and you have to deal with innovation and creativity, so it’s something that’s moving fast.

What are some of the main things you learned at Glion which you use in your current role?

During my studies I met more than hundred nationalities on campus; and it’s something really important today because I have to deal with people of many different nationalities in my job.
Another important thing for me was the insights I got from my teachers. All the staff and teachers in Glion are very professional and they have experience in different fields. The fact that they love what they do and that they shared with us everything they know was something great and a good reflection of the Glion family and Glion Spirit.

“Even when we have left the campuses, after the graduation, we still have the Glion Spirit with us.”

How has your membership of the Glion Alumni network helped you professionally?

Even when we have left the campuses, after the graduation, we still have the Glion Spirit with us. This is something that you will keep during your whole life, and it will continue with the Glion Alumni and all the different events that are organized.

The alumni network is really important. Wherever you will go, you will meet someone who studied at Glion. You can go in London, Geneva, or Tokyo, and in any hotel you can ask for Glion alumni.
We now have a Glion platform for alumni. It’s something really useful: you just have to log in and you will see everyone in the network with their name, position… so it’s something really important and a tool that every student will use or need.
